UPDATE: 4 February 2026
Some users have reported that they are not being offered the emergency update to fix the issues with KB5074109 (Windows 11) or KB5073724 (Windows 10) which are causing the "cloud operation" error.
One solution is to manually install the update by going to the Windows Update Catalogue website and searching for the update. https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/
For Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 search for KB5078127
For Windows 11 23H2 search for KB5078132
For Windows 10 22H2 search for KB5078129
Make sure you select the x64 version.
Download and run the file to install the update manually. (Warning: It is quite a large file.)
UPDATE: 26 January 2026 - RESOLVED
Microsoft have released an emergency update to fix the issue with Power Music and OneDrive. The update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 is:
2026-01 Update (KB5078127) (26200.7628)
Go to Windows Update and install this update as soon as possible. You will have to Restart the PC after the update.
If you have Paused Updates - cancel this, so the new update can be downloaded and installed.
This is quite a large update - it appears to replace the faulty 2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109). It can take up to 30 minutes to download and install - depending on your broadband speed and PC hardware.
For more details read this...
NOTE: For older versions of Windows 11, 23H2 the update is KB5078132 and for Windows 10 it is KB5078129.
Reverting the work-around
If you have done the work-around of putting the Cambron Software folder on the C: drive and want to revert back to using the Documents folder do the following.
If you have not made any changes to the songs in Power Music since you did the work-around, just do step 2 below. If you have made changes and you want to keep them, do both steps.
STEP 1:
Browse to the Cambron Software folder on C:
Copy the folder.
Go to Documents.
Paste the Cambron Software folder into Documents.
Say "Yes" to any overwrites.
STEP 2:
In Power Music go to File/Database maintenance.
Click on Change database.
Browse to Documents/Cambron Software/PowerMusic5/ and choose the PM5jubaldb file.
That will restore Power Music back to using OneDrive. If you need more help please contact us.
End of update.
UPDATE: 23 January 2026
Microsoft have acknowledged that there is an issue with apps that access files stored in OneDrive. Their workaround is the same as the one we have suggested in this article - move the files or as a last resort uninstall the update.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-25h2
Microsoft have published instructions on removing the 2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109).
Microsoft are saying that a fix for this issue will be available in 7 days.
End of update:
We have discovered that a Microsoft Update - 2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109) - is causing an error with Power Music for users that are using OneDrive.
This results in a "The cloud operation is invalid." error when trying to save a song that has been added or edited, or when you upload or download from My Box.
We have been investigating this and the only solutions we have found, so far, are to have the Power Music database stored in a location that OneDrive does not "touch" or the other alternative is to uninstall the update - see below.
This only applies to Power Music Professional - for Essentials see below.
We would recommend copying the Cambron Software folder from Documents to the C: drive and pointing Power Music to the PM5jubaldb5 file there.
Here are the steps to do this:
- Make sure Power Music is not open.
- In File Explorer go to Documents and find the Cambron Software folder.
- Copy this folder
- In File Explorer go to This PC, open the C: drive and paste the Cambron Software folder (You need to be an Administrator on the PC to do this. See below for alternative solution.)
- Launch Power Music
- Got to File/Database maintenance
- Choose Change Database and browse to "C:\Cambron Software\PowerMusic5" and select the "PM5jubaldb.vdb5" file
- Now try using Power Music
Note: The database will no longer be synced by OneDrive.
If you cannot write to the C: drive because you are not the Administrator on the PC follow these steps:
- Make sure Power Music is not open.
- In File Explorer go to Documents and find the Cambron Software folder.
- Copy this folder
- In File Explorer go to This PC, open the C: drive and browse to Users\<your userID>\Documents and paste the Cambron Software folder.
- Launch Power Music
- Got to File/Database maintenance
- Choose Change Database and browse to "C:\Users\<your userID>\Documents\Cambron Software\PowerMusic5" and select the "PM5jubaldb.vdb5" file
- Now try using Power Music
Uninstall the KB5074109 Update - the only solution if you are using Power Music Essentials
Power Music Essentials does not allow the changing of the database location. The only solution, at the moment, is to uninstall the Microsoft Update - 2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109),
To do this:
- Got to Start/Settings/Windows Update
- To stop the update being automatically re-installed choose Pause updates for 5 weeks.
- Select Update History and scroll down to Uninstall Updates and select this
- Find the Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5074109) and click Uninstall
- You will need to Restart the PC after the uninstall.
- Now try Power Music
REMEMBER you have paused updates - if a solution from Microsoft is not released in 5 weeks you will need to extend this period. There is a risk to your PC if updates are paused.
We are continuing to investigate the cause of this error and will hopefully, release a fix in the near future.
